ABOUT ALLOE AND APPA
We love ice cream and people!
Who is Alloe? Alloe is the human on the truck! My parents favorite plant was Aloe Vera at some point, the idea of naming their first child after this plant was a recurring thought and silly joke between the two. They would tease me and say your name could have been Aloe. I didn't mind the name at all actually. My dad and I even got into cosplay and I decided to use Alloe has my handle. Funny thing is, I have dyslexia so I spelled it wrong. But I like my spelling of it!

One of the things I love about Cosplay is the inclusivity. I have autism. My mom likes to say I was given a larger empathetic gene than most people. I think we all should get along and accept each other as is and Ice Cream is where it starts. Who doesn’t like Ice Cream? My hope for the ice cream truck is that it provides the same inclusivity and community to people that cosplay did for me.
In 2019, I had some medical changes and the world was having tough times too. My care team felt a service dog would be the best way to cope with all that was happening. I am allergic to most dogs. My Dad had a friend with a Samoyed Service dog and it turns out the dog was hypoallergenic. We did our research and found that a Samoyed would be perfect for me. Appa is amazing. She is named after the flying bison in Avatar the Airbender. She is trained to assist me in quite a few tasks. She loves being a working dog and will also let me know when she has had enough. I am not sure where I would be without Appa, she is my service dog but also one of my bestest friends.
